Tomboy
|
Most of us have experienced searching through piles of notes trying to find that number we jotted down or the idea we want to finally use. Tomboy allows you to go paperless and organize your notes. It is a cross platform desktop note taking application.
Tomboy has an interface that is a notepad with a linking system to connect your notes together. It doesn't take much work to organize your notes as Tomboy take words in a note that match existing titles and makes them hyperlinks. You'll be able to see all your notes on one subject or idea by using those links. For instance, if you refer to a subject like dehydrated food frequently, those words are highlighted in all notes that contain those words and linked to other notes on the same subject.
You can use Tomboy to organize ideas and information that you deal with in your personal or business life. Jot down ideas, websites you want to remember and other information. Useful features include highlighting, a spell check and auto linking web and email addresses. You can choose from different fonts and styles, make bullet lists and make use of the undo or redo buttons. You can even copy and paste from Tomboy to other applications.
There is a tutorial to get started and familiarize you with Tomboy's basic functions. The main window has 3 sections - a search bar at the top, a left pane that is your Notebooks and the main section that displays all the notes in the notebook (folder) you select. Then just fill in the title and some text.
There are plug-ins available for even more options.
