PSPP is laudible, but it is not an alternative for SPSS. Currently there are still only very few functions, and essential statistics are not supported. If you need something really simple, use Gnumeric, else take the plunge and go for R (or R Commander) if you need a GUI.

Wow! I downloaded this app and it's all there! A complete SPSS without the price tag. I even ran all my analysis from my doctoral research and PSPP gave exactly the results I had from SPSS.
All the functions you could ever think of are there - Anova, Regression, Roc, Kolmogarov-Smirnov ... you name it PSPP has it. I am pleasantly amazed. At last I can ditch SPSS.
