Tabbed PuTTY

Open sourceA feature that many people would like to see in PuTTY is tabs. One solution that brings tabs to PuTTY is PuttyTabs. PuttyTabs is an open source project that brings you a tabbed PuTTY, however, it might not be tabs exactly as you know or like them, but still it provides a great feature that has been missing in PuTTY. And until tabs are natively integrated into PuTTY a program like PuttyTabs is a perfect solution.
You can read more on PuttyTabs here.

For an open source alternative to PuTTY that has tabs, please check out Poderosa.

I agree. It's not perfect, intuitive, or consistent. It's behaviour seems a bit like the mac os top bar, and is similar to the old kicker panel in kde < 3.5. But, as you said, until tabs are natively supported in in putty, it works well enough.

I use wintabber with putty without any problems. It's a window manager for putty, cygwin and others. In the end you get a window with putty sessions as tabs. You can also change the titles and icons.

but wintabber is not free, well it is free for everythign other than putty, nice!

I tawt I taw a putty tab... Try PuTTY Connection Manager (puttycm.free.fr) for tabbed PuTTY. Another alternative is Poderosa (www.poderosa.org), which is natively tabbed, open source and works quite well.

I used to use PuttyCM for awhile, but then stopped using cua the old version had a bug, a memory leak or something. It would eat up lot of memory and eventually crash. I tried the newer version on XP, it keeps on crashing.
I used to use Wintabber, but wintabber no longer works on my work machine, because I dont have Admin Access on it. So, I'm stuck with old fashioned putty, might try puttytabs.

poderosa seems to be great software, but it seems from website that nobody is taking care of it. the website was modified on 2006 last time.

how sad ! I am using Poderosa now and its great substitute for what we can call to "Tabbed Putty"

thanx

KiTTY is a decent fork of PuTTY. However it does not support tabs (yet).
